Makongeni Ward MCA aspirant Rosalina Apur intensified her grassroots campaign on Tuesday with a high-profile engagement with Muslim residents in Kaloleni, where she pledged to champion religious inclusivity and oversee the restoration of a local mosque.
Addressing a large gathering at the Kaloleni basketball courtyard, Apur emphasized the need for leadership that protects religious freedoms while ensuring equitable development across communities. She assured residents that, if elected in the 2027 General Election, her administration would prioritize the rehabilitation and preservation of the mosque, which she described as a vital pillar of social cohesion.
“Faith institutions are pillars of our society, offering guidance, unity, and moral grounding,” she said, drawing applause from the crowd.
In a gesture aimed at supporting vulnerable members of the community, Apur donated foodstuffs, mattresses, and blankets to the mosque. She also distributed cash to elders and congregants to assist with upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations, framing the initiative as part of her broader empowerment agenda.
Apur further urged residents to register as voters and actively participate in the democratic process, noting that meaningful transformation in Makongeni Ward would depend on civic engagement and collective action.
The event saw a significant boost to her campaign after local Muslim leaders and imams publicly endorsed her bid, expressing appreciation for her outreach and pledging to mobilize support ahead of the 2027 polls.
Residents who attended the meeting praised Apur’s hands-on approach and commitment to addressing pressing community needs, with many expressing optimism that her leadership could usher in a new era of inclusive governance and development in Makongeni Ward.
