JAMBOJET LAUNCHES DIRECT FLIGHT ROUTE FROM MOMBASA TO ZANZIBAR.

The inaugural flight, which took off from Moi International Airport in Mombasa and landed at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport in Zanzibar, was celebrated with a grand ceremony. The event saw the attendance of dignitaries from the Embassy of Kenya to Tanzania, government representatives from both Tanzania and Kenya, and top executives from Jambojet.
Jambojet's new service will operate four times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Flights will depart Mombasa at 5:10 PM and arrive in Zanzibar at 6:05 PM, making the journey in just 55 minutes. The airline is offering competitive rates, with round trips starting at 24,420 Kenyan shillings (495,000 Tanzanian shillings).

The route will be serviced by De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft, capable of carrying 78 to 82 passengers. This addition allows for convenient connections to major cities such as Nairobi, Dubai, Frankfurt, and Milan.
Kenya's Ambassador to Tanzania, Isaac Njenga, highlighted the route's significance: "On behalf of the Kenyan government, I am delighted to be part of today's launch. This step is crucial not only in facilitating quick and affordable air travel but also in strengthening commercial, tourist, and cultural ties between Tanzania and Kenya. By enhancing connectivity, we are fostering development along the East African coast."
Jambojet's expansion strategy in East Africa is further supported by local leaders. Zanzibar’s Minister of Tourism and Heritage, Mudrik Ramadhan Soragha, remarked, "Our economy largely depends on tourism, which cannot grow without expanding key sectors like aviation. Jambojet's new route will significantly contribute to boosting tourism on the islands."
Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir also emphasized the economic benefits, stating, "Jambojet is opening up many socio-economic opportunities for Zanzibar and Mombasa. We expect more tourists and traders to benefit from this affordable and fast direct flight."
Since its establishment in 2014 as a subsidiary of Kenya Airways, Jambojet has served over 7.5 million passengers and holds more than 54% of the domestic air travel market share in Kenya. The airline's extensive network includes flights to Nairobi, Kisumu, Eldoret, Lamu, Malindi, Diani, and Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
With this new route, Jambojet continues to pave the way for enhanced connectivity and economic development in East Africa, contributing to the region’s socio-economic growth and integration.
