YOUTH LEADERS DRIVE INNOVATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AT AFRICA SDG WEEK 2024.

The Africa SDG Week Kenya Edition 2024, held from October 7th to 8th at YMCA Central, brought together over 300 young leaders to explore "Youth-Led Innovation for Sustainable Development in Africa." Organized by the Next Einstein Forum (NEF), the event highlighted the vital role of youth in achieving Vision 2030 and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Paul Njeru, Executive Director of Young Water Professionals (YWP) Kenya, emphasized the necessity of empowering young professionals to address pressing water and sanitation challenges. “Achieving Vision 2030 requires innovative approaches and active participation from youth,” he stated, underscoring the connection between clean water initiatives and SDG Goal 6.
The event facilitated discussions on climate resilience, water management, and sanitation innovations, aiming to mobilize resources and foster collaboration among stakeholders. The commitment to aligning efforts with the Pact for the Future reinforces the potential of young innovators to drive sustainable change across the continent.
Njeru concluded that Africa SDG Week was a pivotal call to action for youth to lead in sustainable development, affirming YWP Kenya's dedication to championing innovative solutions in the water sector. As the continent progresses towards Vision 2030, the active involvement of young professionals remains crucial for fostering a sustainable future.
