The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced today that it successfully repelled a major assault by Islamist-aligned army militias and armed groups in the Um Adara area, west of Kordofan, in what it described as a “fierce battle” that demonstrated the preparedness and resilience of its fighters.
According to a statement issued by the RSF spokesperson, the paramilitary group engaged in heavy combat early Thursday morning, ultimately defeating the attacking forces and seizing 18 fully-equipped combat vehicles. The RSF claimed that “hundreds of enemy fighters” were killed in the clash and confirmed that its troops are now pursuing the remnants of the fleeing forces to fully secure the region.
“This heroic operation confirms the high readiness of our forces and demonstrates that any desperate attempt by mercenary remnants to regroup will be met with decisive force,” the statement read.
The RSF reiterated its commitment to what it calls the “path of liberation,” vowing to continue fighting until the complete removal of the government faction it refers to as the “Port Sudan gang.” The group said its struggle is aimed at ending oppression and marginalization and laying the foundation for a new, just Sudan.
The statement concluded with a tribute to fallen RSF fighters and reaffirmed the group’s revolutionary messaging under the slogans #Battle_for_Democracy and #Guardians_of_the_Glorious_Revolution.
This announcement marks another episode in the ongoing conflict between the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces, a power struggle that has engulfed Sudan in violence since the civil war erupted in April 2023.
