RAPID SUPPORT FORCES CONDEMN AU OFFICIAL'S ALLEGED BIAS IN SUDAN CONFLICT.

BY NJOKI KARANJA.

Nairobi, Kenya - The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have strongly condemned the recent stances and statements made by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, accusing him of blatant bias towards one party in the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

In a press release issued today, the RSF stated that these positions contradict the officially declared stance of the African Union, which suspended Sudan's membership following the October 25, 2021 coup.
The RSF specifically pointed to statements made by Mr. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf after his meeting with a delegation from the "Port Sudan Group" on the sidelines of the Arab Summit held in Baghdad, Iraq. The RSF highlighted his praise of what he termed the "army's control" as clear evidence of overt bias and a transparent attempt to steer the African Union's position in favor of one side of the conflict.

The RSF asserts that these statements constitute a stark violation of the values of neutrality and objectivity that should be upheld by someone holding a high continental position. They further argue that these remarks completely contradict the AU's declared position of not recognizing the current authority in Sudan and its intention to play a mediating role in any political process aimed at ending the conflict.

The RSF reiterated that Sudan's sovereignty has been violated since the military's forceful seizure of power and that continuing to address the Sudanese crisis with a logic of alignment with the "terrorist Islamic Movement's project" does not serve the path to peace. Instead, they claim it perpetuates the reality of war, division, and destruction.
The RSF warned against the consequences of continuing this biased approach and called on the African Union Commission to respect its institutional decisions and adopt a responsible stance that reflects the aspirations of the continent's people towards democracy and justice, rather than siding with "coup and autocratic regimes."

The press release concluded with a prayer for mercy and forgiveness for their "righteous martyrs" and was attributed to the official spokesperson for the Rapid Support Forces.
