NAIROBI, Kenya – June 30, 2025 — Former Kenyan international Boniface Ambani is the new AFC Leopards Chairman after clinching a decisive victory in the club’s elections held on Sunday at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

AFC Leopards Chairman Boniface Ambani casts his ballot during the club's elections on June 29, 2025 at the MISC Kasarani.

Ambani, who once wore the Leopards jersey in his playing days, secured 1,101 votes, trouncing his sole challenger Enos Mutoka who managed 682. The former Yanga SC striker now succeeds outgoing Chairman Dan Shikanda, another former Kenyan international, who bows out after completing his constitutionally mandated two terms at the helm of one of Kenya’s most historic football clubs.

The elections, overseen by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), also ushered in new faces for the Secretary General and Treasurer positions.

Isaac Mulindi emerged victorious in the race for Secretary General with 656 votes, edging out Robert Situma and Irene Sitawa who polled 534 and 429 votes respectively. Mulindi takes over from the late Gilbert Andugu, who passed away in May. Caroline Walusaga has been acting in the position since Andugu’s death.

Meanwhile, Newton Lime was elected Treasurer after garnering 676 votes. He beat Edward Buhasho (599 votes) and Patrick Kanyangi (445 votes) in a tight three-way contest.

The newly elected officials will now serve a three-year term, tasked with steering Ingwe back to its former footballing glory amid rising expectations from fans and stakeholders.
