RSF OPENS STRATEGIC BORDER CROSSING TO AID CIVILIANS IN DARFUR AND KORDOFAN AMID HUMANITARIAN CRISIS.

Khartoum, Sudan – June 12, 2025 — The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have announced the opening of a critical border crossing in the Triangle Area under their control, marking a major development in the ongoing humanitarian crisis gripping Sudan’s conflict-affected regions. The move is aimed at facilitating the delivery of lifesaving aid to civilians in Darfur and Kordofan, who the RSF says have been deliberately deprived of food and assistance by forces aligned with the Islamic Movement.

Citing its national and regional responsibilities, the RSF declared its full readiness to cooperate with humanitarian agencies by securing relief convoys and ensuring safe passage for aid workers and supplies. The group stated it is placing all its resources at the disposal of aid organizations to reach civilians trapped in the crossfire of Sudan’s deepening conflict.

"The RSF is committed to utilizing its control over the Triangle Area to serve humanitarian purposes and alleviate the suffering of civilians subjected to starvation as a weapon of war," the statement read.

Beyond humanitarian efforts, the RSF emphasized plans to bolster border security, announcing the deployment of forces to counter transnational organized crime. The group said it is working in coordination with neighboring countries to tackle threats posed by mercenary groups and trafficking networks operating in the region.

The Triangle Area, strategically located at the crossroads of Sudan’s borders with Libya and Chad, is regarded as a key economic and security hub. The RSF said its control over the area presents an opportunity to enhance regional cooperation on trade, border security, counterterrorism, and anti-trafficking operations.

“This field achievement opens the door to joint regional stability efforts and provides a platform for combating human trafficking, terrorism, and illegal migration,” the statement added.

The RSF renewed its commitment to protecting civilians and called on both regional and international partners to support its initiative, framing it as a critical step toward restoring security and the rule of law in the region.

The announcement comes amid mounting international concern over the worsening humanitarian situation in Sudan, where fighting between the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) has displaced millions and left large swaths of the population without access to food, water, and medical care.
