RSF CLAIMS DOWNING OF SUDANESE ARMY DRONE OVER NYALA.

Nyala, South Darfur  August 25, 2025.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced on Monday evening that its air defense units had shot down a Bayraktar Akıncı drone allegedly belonging to the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) over the skies of Nyala, South Darfur.
In a statement, the RSF described the drone as part of operations carried out by what it called the “Islamic Movement terrorists” and warned of “grave consequences” should the Sudanese military continue aerial operations it claims are endangering civilians.

“Our forces reaffirm their utmost readiness to counter any aerial threat and confront all hostile actions aimed at undermining the security and stability of civilians,” the statement read.

The paramilitary group further cautioned that it would not hesitate to retaliate directly against SAF and Islamic Movement strongholds, declaring all of their military sites “legitimate targets” within the RSF’s reach.

The claim could not be independently verified, and neither the SAF nor Sudanese government has issued a response regarding the alleged downing of the Turkish-made combat drone.

The incident underscores the escalating use of advanced military technology in the conflict, with both sides trading accusations of targeting civilian areas in Darfur and beyond.
