RSF REGAINS CONTROL OF KAZGIL IN NORTH KORDOFAN, ADVANCES TOWARD EL-OBEID.

BY NJOKI KARANJA.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced on Saturday that its troops had fully regained control of the Kazgil area in North Kordofan State after what it described as decisive battles against the Sudanese Armed Forces, which it referred to as the “Islamic Movement army,” and allied militias.
According to the RSF statement, its forces are pressing forward from multiple directions toward the strategic city of El-Obeid, the state capital, in preparation for what it called its liberation.

The RSF framed the development as part of its ongoing campaign to dismantle what it termed the remnants of the Islamic Movement and safeguard Sudan’s “democratic revolution.”

The claim could not be independently verified, and the Sudanese Armed Forces have not immediately issued a response. North Kordofan, and particularly El-Obeid, holds significant military and economic importance in the wider conflict, making the latest development a potentially pivotal moment in the war.
