El Fasher, Sudan – October 21, 2025.
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced that new groups from the Islamic Movement Army and allied mercenary factions have surrendered to RSF units in the city of El Fasher, North Darfur.
According to a brief statement posted on the RSF’s official media channels, the surrender occurred as part of ongoing operations in what the force describes as the “Battle for Democracy”. The RSF said the defecting soldiers laid down their arms and joined its ranks after realizing, in the statement’s words, “the futility of fighting against the will of the people and the goals of the glorious revolution.”
The RSF hailed the move as further proof of collapsing morale among opposing forces loyal to the Islamic Movement, which it accuses of attempting to undermine Sudan’s democratic transition.
No details were immediately provided regarding the number of fighters who surrendered or the circumstances under which they did so. However, the RSF emphasized that it remains committed to integrating those who renounce violence and align themselves with what it calls “the path of the revolution and democratic change.”
The latest development comes amid heightened tensions and continued clashes in several parts of Darfur, as the RSF and Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) compete for control over key strategic areas in the war-torn region.
