The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have strongly denied allegations that their units carried out an air or artillery strike targeting a displaced persons’ shelter in El Fasher, North Darfur.
In an official statement released on Saturday, the RSF described reports from what it called “media rooms linked to the Islamic Movement’s terrorist army” as false and misleading. The statement asserted that the claims were part of a deliberate disinformation campaign aimed at covering up what it described as “repeated battlefield defeats” suffered by the opposing forces and their allied mercenaries.
“The accusations spread through outlets operating under the security apparatus of the former regime—using names such as ‘El Fasher Resistance Committees’—are unfounded fabrications,” the RSF said. “These claims are contradicted by the accounts of thousands of civilians who have left the city safely after our forces provided secure corridors and temporary shelters to protect their lives.”
The RSF urged both local and international media organizations to verify information before publishing such reports, emphasizing its “full commitment to the rules of engagement that prioritize civilian safety and respect for human rights.”
The statement concluded by reaffirming the group’s determination to continue what it termed “legitimate efforts to combat terrorism and build a Sudan based on justice, equality, and good governance,” despite what it called “ongoing disinformation campaigns.”
“Mercy and forgiveness to our righteous martyrs,” the statement ended.
