The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced today that they have regained full control of the strategic city of Bara in North Kordofan State after intense battles against the Islamic Movement Army and allied militias.
In a statement released on Saturday, the RSF described the operation as a “heroic battle,” noting that its forces launched a multi-front offensive that successfully broke through enemy defenses and led to a decisive victory.

> “Our forces have completely secured the strategic city of Bara after a swift and well-coordinated operation that crushed the Islamic Movement Army and its terrorist militias,” the statement read.

According to the RSF, the operation inflicted heavy losses on opposing forces, with thousands reported killed and hundreds wounded. The statement added that RSF troops seized large quantities of weapons and ammunition, which are currently being catalogued. Pursuit operations are ongoing against retreating enemy fighters toward the outskirts of El Obeid, the North Kordofan capital.

The RSF hailed the liberation of Bara as a major milestone toward full control of the wider Kordofan region.

> “The liberation of Bara represents a vital step in completing the control over key areas across Kordofan,” the statement added. “Our brave fighters have demonstrated unmatched courage and determination, delivering a painful blow to the enemy who fled in disarray, abandoning their equipment and dead.”

The RSF reaffirmed its commitment to continuing what it called a “comprehensive liberation campaign” aimed at dismantling remnants of armed Islamist factions and ending what it termed “the dominance of the old regime over Sudan’s national resources.”

The statement concluded by honoring the fallen RSF soldiers, describing them as “martyrs of the revolution,” and reaffirmed the force’s dedication to what it called the struggle for democracy and the freedom of the Sudanese people.
