SUDAN: ARMED GROUP ACCUSES ISLAMIST FORCES OF DEADLY CHRISTMAS AIRSTRIKE IN SOUTH KORDOFAN.

An armed political group known as the Founding Forces (Quwat Ta’sis) has accused what it described as the “Muslim Brotherhood Army” of carrying out a deliberate airstrike on a civilian gathering of Christian worshippers in South Kordofan, killing at least 12 people and injuring 19 others.
In a statement issued on Friday, the group said military aircraft targeted civilians celebrating Christmas in the Biyaam Jilid area of South Kordofan, describing the attack as a “selective and treacherous assault.” According to the statement, most of the casualties were women and children.

The group alleged that the strike was part of a broader pattern of extremist violence and accused Islamist forces of systematically targeting civilians, particularly during religious celebrations. It said the incident underscored what it called three decades of warnings about the dangers posed by extremist groups to Sudan’s social fabric and to freedom of religion and belief.

“The deliberate targeting of civilians during Christmas celebrations confirms that our country is facing organized terrorism,” the statement said, condemning the attack as a violation of Sudan’s long-standing traditions of religious coexistence and diversity.
The Founding Forces expressed solidarity with Sudan’s Christian community, describing it as an integral part of the country’s religious and cultural diversity. The group blamed what it called “religious fanaticism and extremism” for disrupting peaceful coexistence.

The statement also renewed calls on the international community to condemn the attack and to take concrete measures to combat terrorism and extremism in Sudan, arguing that designation alone is insufficient without practical action.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to fighting extremism and said it seeks to establish a secular, civilian state in line with Sudan’s 2025 Constitution, which it said guarantees freedom, justice, and equality for all citizens.

The statement concluded by honoring those killed in the attack and offering condolences to their families.
No independent verification of the incident was immediately available, and there was no comment at the time from the accused party.
