Khartoum, 1 December 2025.
The Tasis Forces announced on Monday that their positions in the city of Babnousa came under what they described as a “surprise attack” carried out at dawn by forces they associate with the army and elements linked to the Muslim Brotherhood.
In a statement released on 1 December, the group said the incident constituted a new violation of the humanitarian truce supported by the United States, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates. According to the statement, this marks the eighth alleged breach of the ceasefire in recent days.
The Tasis Forces claimed they had fully complied with the truce and accused the army of “repeatedly carrying out hostile operations” aimed at obstructing peace efforts and limiting the delivery of humanitarian assistance to civilians.
Despite what they described as escalating attacks, the group said its fighters repelled the offensive and then launched a “precise military operation” that resulted in the retaking of the 22nd Division headquarters and securing the city of Babnousa. The statement added that the operation neutralized threats in several surrounding areas.
The group also asserted that the opposing forces suffered “significant losses in personnel and equipment,” including the destruction of heavy machinery and the capture of “advanced military gear allegedly supplied by regional actors.”
According to the Tasis Forces, the recapture of Babnousa represents a turning point in confronting “extremist elements” they claim have infiltrated the Sudanese army, and demonstrates their own ability to protect civilians and prevent further instability.
The statement reaffirmed the group’s commitment to the humanitarian ceasefire and to safeguarding civilian populations, while maintaining that self-defense is their legal right under international law in light of what they described as repeated attacks.
The Tasis Forces concluded by expressing readiness to engage in any serious peace process aimed at achieving lasting stability in Sudan and reducing the influence of groups they say dominate segments of the national army.
They ended the statement with a tribute to their “martyrs.”
