A Sudanese armed group known as the Founding Forces said it is closely monitoring what it described as ongoing attempts by the Muslim Brotherhood and allied military elements to inflame tensions along Sudan’s border with neighboring Chad.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the group rejected media reports circulated by outlets it said are aligned with the Islamist movement, which claimed that its forces had targeted Chadian military formations. The group denied the allegations, calling them “misleading and false.”
According to the statement, an attack that occurred in the border town of Tina was carried out by aircraft belonging to what it described as the “Muslim Brotherhood Army,” accusing the group of attempting to evade responsibility for the incident.
“The dissemination of such fabricated narratives is part of a continuous strategy aimed at provoking regional tensions and destabilizing the border areas,” the statement said.
The Founding Forces emphasized their commitment to maintaining strong and stable relations with neighboring countries, particularly Chad, and said it views cooperation with regional partners as essential to shared security, peace, and stability.
The group also called on political actors and the public to remain vigilant against what it described as efforts to sow discord and escalate conflicts. It said it would continue to carry out what it termed its national duty to protect civilians, safeguard Sudan’s borders, and maintain stability in frontier regions.
The statement concluded by paying tribute to fighters killed in the conflict.
There was no immediate comment from Chadian authorities, and the claims could not be independently verified.
