RSF, SPLM-N CLAIM CAPTURE OF STRATEGIC KURMUK TOWN IN BLUE NILE OFFENSIVE.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and their allies, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), have announced a major military advance in Sudan’s Blue Nile region, claiming full السيطرة (control) of the strategic town of Kurmuk following intense ბრძოლات (fighting) with Sudanese army forces.
In a statement released الثلاثاء (Tuesday), the coalition—part of the Tasis alliance—said its قوات (forces) had secured Kurmuk along with nearby areas including Al-Baraka and Al-Keili after what it described as “fierce battles” that began a day earlier.

The statement alleged that the joint RSF and SPLM-N قوات engaged Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and allied militias in heavy clashes, ultimately forcing them to withdraw from the المناطق (areas). The قوات also claimed to have achieved significant territorial gains across multiple axes in what they referred to as the “New Funj/Blue Nile front.”
Kurmuk, located in Blue Nile State near the Ethiopian border, is considered strategically important due to its proximity to key الحدود (border zones) and supply routes. The region has increasingly become a central battleground in السودان’s ongoing conflict between the الجيش (army) and RSF-aligned forces.

The latest claims, however, could not be independently verified, and the Sudanese Armed Forces had not immediately responded at the time of publication.
Recent months have seen intensified clashes in Blue Nile, with both sides attempting to expand territorial control as the conflict, which began in 2023, continues to spread across multiple regions. Analysts note that السيطرة over Blue Nile could open strategic corridors toward central Sudan, potentially shifting the balance of power in the الحرب.

The situation on the ground remains fluid, with civilian populations increasingly caught in the crossfire amid escalating military operations.
