Speaking ahead of the exercise, party officials said the repeat polls will take place in Kiambu, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Embu, Meru, Samburu, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Baringo, Laikipia, Kericho, Bomet, and Vihiga counties.
The elections form part of the party’s broader effort to conclude Phase III of its nationwide grassroots elections, aimed at building functional and representative leadership structures at the polling centre level, which UDA says are key to strengthening its political organization.
According to the party, the grassroots exercise has drawn more than 500,000 candidates seeking to fill 20 leadership positions available in polling centres across the participating counties.
UDA said the positions are structured to ensure inclusive representation across various sectors of society. The candidates include representatives of women, youth, persons with special interests, farmers, religious leaders, professionals, and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and traders.

Party officials noted that the large number of aspirants reflects growing enthusiasm among members to actively participate in shaping the party’s grassroots leadership.
Eight Million Members Expected to Vote
The party estimates that about eight million registered members will take part in the elections, which will be conducted in 8,819 polling centres spread across the 18 counties.

UDA said preparations and logistical arrangements for the exercise have been finalized to ensure a smooth, transparent, and credible voting process.
Technology to Power the Process
In a bid to enhance efficiency and transparency, the party has integrated technology into the electoral process.
UDA confirmed that 9,000 electronic voting tablets have been distributed to polling centres to facilitate voting and capture results.

Additionally, the party said election outcomes will be published in real time through an online results portal on its website, allowing members and the public to follow the tallying process as it unfolds.

Polls to Run From Morning to Evening
Voting is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. and close at 5:00 p.m., with members expected to cast their ballots at their designated polling centres.
Once completed, the exercise is expected to yield approximately 150,000 grassroots officials, who will serve as party representatives and coordinators at the polling centre level.

UDA said the officials will play a critical role in mobilizing members, coordinating party activities, and strengthening engagement at the grassroots, describing the elections as a central pillar in building a democratic and member-driven party structure.
