A strong appeal for ethical leadership and national unity took center stage at the Jamhuri Kenya Leadership Awards, where Daniel Maanzo delivered a keynote message on behalf of Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, calling on leaders to prioritise service over self.
Speaking during the ceremony, Senator Maanzo conveyed Kalonzo’s message urging both leaders and citizens to embrace integrity, accountability, and collective responsibility as the foundation of national progress.
Kalonzo, who was away on official duties in Kisii and Bungoma, commended the awards for recognising individuals whose contributions often go unnoticed, describing the platform as a reminder of the power of citizen-driven development.

“At a time when our national conversation is often defined by division, initiatives like these remind us of what is possible when citizens commit themselves to their highest calling,” the message stated.

The address emphasised that Kenya’s growth is not solely dependent on government action but is largely driven by the everyday efforts of ordinary citizens—including teachers, healthcare workers, entrepreneurs, and public servants.

“Kenya is sustained by the integrity of the public servant who refuses a bribe, the dedication of the nurse who works through the night, and the resilience of the entrepreneur who builds opportunity against all odds,” Kalonzo noted.
He stressed that true leadership is defined by character, particularly in moments when actions are not subject to public scrutiny.

“Character is not what we display in public—it is what we uphold when no one is watching,” the message added, while underscoring the need for accountability in both public and private sectors.
The ceremony brought together stakeholders from government, private sector, and civil society, celebrating excellence, innovation, and transformative leadership across the country.

In his closing remarks, Kalonzo called for renewed commitment to unity and shared national values, urging Kenyans to work together in building a cohesive and prosperous society.

“To the award recipients, you are not just honourees—you are torchbearers lighting the path for future generations,” he said.
The event concluded with a resounding call for leaders to uphold integrity and for citizens to remain actively engaged in shaping a united Kenya grounded in ethical leadership and shared purpose.
