The Kenya School of Government (KSG) celebrated its 100th anniversary by graduating 432 Assistant County Commissioners (ACCs) with Diplomas in Public Administration. The milestone ceremony, held at KSG's Lower Kabete Campus, served as a platform for the government to reaffirm its commitment to grassroots administrative reforms and public sector digitization.
Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes, presided over the 7th Graduation and Induction Ceremony

In his address, CS Ruku urged public servants to actively embrace emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) to optimize government efficiency and anchor Kenya as a tech leader in Africa.

"All public servants should take advantage of the Kenya School of Government to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to harness opportunities presented by Artificial Intelligence,"      Expanding Administrative Footprints

The graduation coincided with the conclusion of an induction program for 530 newly appointed Deputy County Commissioners (DCCs) across various KSG campuses, including Baringo, Matuga, Mombasa, and Kabete.
Dr. Raymond Omollo, the Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration, noted that the training directly supports the coordination of the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and security sector operations. He highlighted that Kenya’s 400+ sub-counties offer a wider, more impactful administrative footprint than its 290 political constituencies, making strong grassroots governance essential.

According to Dr. Omollo, the joint graduation and induction is part of the largest mass training and promotion exercise ever executed for the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) cadre. The initiative aims to modernize public administration while systematically resolving long-standing career stagnation within civil service.

Recent updates to the NGAO cadre include:

394 Assistant County Commissioners and Assistant Secretaries promoted to Senior status.

431 Senior Assistant County Commissioners elevated to Deputy County Commissioners.

100 administrative officers promoted to the rank of Under Secretary.

The high-profile event drew attendance from key government officials, including Attorney General Dorcas Oduor, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, Public Service PS Dr. Jane Imbunya, Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o, KSG Chairperson Justice (Rtd) Charles Nyachae, and KSG Director General Prof. Nura Mohamed.
