Kaimosi Friends University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Peter Mwita today underscored the critical role of universities in driving Kenya's socio-economic transformation during an engagement at State House, Nairobi.

Addressing leaders and stakeholders, Prof. Mwita emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the Government and institutions of higher learning to enhance research, innovation, skills development, and entrepreneurship. He noted that universities remain key partners in producing graduates equipped to meet the country's evolving labour market demands and contribute to national development.

The Vice-Chancellor also highlighted the importance of sustained investment in higher education, saying adequate support for universities would strengthen research capacity, improve academic excellence, and foster innovation that addresses real-world challenges.
Prof. Mwita reaffirmed Kaimosi Friends University's commitment to advancing quality education, promoting industry linkages, and supporting national development through impactful research and community engagement.

The State House meeting brought together university leaders and government officials to deliberate on strategies aimed at strengthening Kenya's higher education sector and aligning it with the country's development priorities.

PNU CONDEMNS KENYA KWANZA ’s MOVE TO WEAKEN FREE BASIC EDUCATION.

The Party of National Unity (PNU) has sharply criticized the Kenya Kwanza administration for slashing funding to free primary and secondary education in the 2025/26 national budget, warning that the move threatens to undo decades of progress and could become the regime’s political downfall. In a strongly worded statement released today, PNU condemned the government’s decision to reduce funding for Free Primary Education (FPE) from KES 9.1 billion to KES 7 billion, and Free Day Secondary Education from KES 61.9 billion to KES 51.9 billion. KCDF AWARDS KES 23.95 MILLION TO YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL INNOVATION.

BY NJOKI KARANJA   The Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF) has awarded KES 23,950,000 to five youth organizations to support innovative environmental conservation projects. This marks the culmination of the inaugural Young Environmentalist Innovative Challenge (YEIC), launched in 2023. The winning organizations, recognized for their forward-thinking approaches, include Inua DamSite (Nyandarua County), EcoRich Solutions and Placom Manufacturers (Nairobi County), and Farmer Lifeline Technologies and Fruity Schools Africa (Kiambu County). During the award ceremony, KCDF also launched the second edition of the YEIC, aiming to award three individual environment champions with grants of up to KES 1.5 million each and six organizations with grants of up to KES 5 million each.
