General Petroleum GMBH is under intense legal scrutiny after being accused of fraudulently misrepresenting itself as a Dexos-approved supplier of motor oil — a certification standard owned by General Motors (GM). The scandal has triggered criminal charges, a growing class action lawsuit, and a major reputational blow to the company.

Investigations reveal that the company falsely claimed its products were certified by GM, using that claim to market and sell inferior oil products to unsuspecting consumers. The deception, now exposed through rigorous testing by the American Petroleum Quality Institute (PQI), has drawn swift condemnation and prompted legal action from affected parties.

Despite its branding as a German-based firm, there is no financial or operational evidence proving General Petroleum GMBH’s presence or legitimacy in Germany. The company is now being accused of leveraging a fake European identity to lend credibility to its operations and mislead both consumers and distributors.

At the center of the scandal is Managing Director Habib Khan, alongside his nephew and other staff members, all of whom have been implicated in the scheme. They now face criminal prosecution for corporate fraud and consumer deception.

Victims of the fraud have banded together and initiated a class action lawsuit, with legal representation led by Naseer Malala Advocates, a law firm now spearheading the effort to hold the company accountable.

“This is a blatant case of consumer fraud and brand misrepresentation,” said a spokesperson for the law firm. “Our goal is not only justice for those deceived, but to ensure companies engaging in such practices are held to the highest legal standards.”

The unfolding scandal is expected to have international legal implications, particularly involving consumer protection laws, trademark violations, and cross-border business regulations. General Motors has not yet commented officially on the matter but is widely expected to pursue legal remedies to defend its brand integrity.

The case underscores the growing global challenge of counterfeit certifications and fraudulent corporate claims, especially in industries where consumer trust and product performance are critical. Further updates are expected as the investigation continues and the legal proceedings advance.
